WTJ Wednesday: Vol 1 Post 2

I haven't done much on the Wreck This Journal project, but I thought I would share a little snippit of some stuff I have been working on.

First up is the Burn This Page feature.  Now, normally I shy away from setting things on fire, but since they said to I did.  I did use extreme caution and it is very much a work in progress.  Did you know that burning paper smells awful and arouses suspicion?

Next was the Coffee page.  Now I am not really a coffee drinker, so I took this to mean you favorite caffienated beverage of choice.  So, here you will find some drips of diet Dr. Pepper and some of my favorite in blended drinks, Chocolate Chai Yoguccino!

I have some exciting pages coming up to work on.  I am hoping to get some done over the long weekend!  WooHoo...long weekend!

FP: Poppy

Finished Project: Poppy

Pattern Source: In Bloom
Begin Date: April 29, 2010
End Date: May 15, 2010
Craft: Crochet
Yarn/Paper/Fabric/Other: Lion Cotton - Poppy - Fat Quarter Fabric from Joann Fabric & Crafts
Needles/Hooks/Other: G hook
Notions: Yo-Yo maker for flower center: snap
Modifications:

The Journey: I saw this on someone’s project page and realized that I had the Happy Hooker book and so I got started straight away. Then it was time to do some swap stuff, so I put this on the back burner for a while and then was able to pick it back up in mid-May. I chose to line the entire bag instead of stopping just below the handles. I think it looks more finished that way. I used a bit of the lining fabric and my new handy dandy yo-yo maker to make the center of the crocheted flower. Instead of pinning the flower on, I sewed it directly on. I added a heavy duty snap (perhaps a little to heavy duty…) as a closure, although it might not really need one.

This is the perfect little bag to take with you to a movie or a quick trip to the store. It would be a fabulous little thank you/hostess gift or a great prize at a bridal or baby shower. I’ve been told that sisters would love one of these for Christmas and I imagine there is a friend or two that wouldn’t mind one either.

FP: Fields of Blue Pillow

Finished Project: Fields of Blue Pillow

Pattern Source: My brain
Begin Date: 5/5/10

End Date: 5/5/10
Craft: Sewing
Yarn/Paper/Fabric/Other: Joann Calico Cotton Print
Needles/Hooks/Other: Sewing machine
Notions: Pillow square
Modifications: None

The Journey:

A while ago I had crocheted a giant granny square, okay so 16" or so isn't giant, but still it was bigger than anything I had really done.  Orginally it was supposed to turn into a blanket, but it just wasn't going to happen, so I finished it off and bought this fabric I thought would be perfect with it.  The plan was to sew a pillow cover and then stitch the granny square on the front of it.

So I pulled out the sewing machine and got to work on making the pillow cover.  It turned out just like I wanted, okay it was a little off in the back, but it was the back!  Then I sat down with my sewing box, granny square and pillow and realized that the granny square was way bigger than I thought it was and it was not going to work.  So, I tossed the gs aside and changed the pillow form from a 16" to a 14" and now I have a very pretty throw pillow to gift.  It is a win situation.

As for the large granny square, I am thinking that it makes a nice doily of sorts for someone's nightstand.  So, see a win again.

And a close up of the fabric

WTJ Wednesday: Vol 1 Post 1

I have decided to dust off my never been touched Wreck This Journal and take part in the challenges.

I thought this page(s) needed a bit of flashy color, hey, it's all about breaking the rules!

Next up was some invisible tasks, but I share them with you

and to show the cracked spine (thankfully the books, not mine!)
