Well balls...

I’ve been on Ravelry a lot the past few days faving projects and patterns and today I came across an interesting project…an apple sweater. Now, I must ask, why would one knit an apple sweater? I don’t have the answer. I have tried to think of something and yet there is nothing that can explain this phenomenon. I also came across a man who crocheted himself a pair of bibs. Capri, baggy, Rastafarian bibs that he modeled shirtless. He also indicated that he would be making some more of these bibs in the future out of various yarns. Got to admire a man who knits his own clothing. You can google You Knit What? And find a link for a gem of a blog. It is no longer being updated, but you can review past entries and laugh your little tail hair off. People really will make just about anything. You have to think about it though. First someone has to have an idea, then write a pattern, then make the item, then sell the idea to someone else to publish and then someone with absolutely too much time on their hands and a complete lack of taste to make said item.

I have a lot of fun fur yarn. I don’t know what to do with it. I had it on hand when I was still looming scarves and it added some nice pizzazz and camouflaged the hideous cast on edges. But now, I don’t know what the hell to do with it. Any thoughts, please drop me a note.

I must learn to crochet this term. That is if the schedule ever comes out. I realize it is still August, but I need to plan my schedule and so I must see the class schedule to decide what I am going to do. I might want to take more than one class. I was thinking about pottery or wood carving. I haven’t done pottery since fourth grade. That is a long time ago. I would love to make something. I think pottery is great, but the problem comes in when you need to fire something. We don’t have any places around here that let’s you bring stuff in to be fired, at least none that I know of. So, maybe wood carving would be a better class to take. Woodcarving and Knitting/Crocheting. I don’t know that is two nights away from the house and three hours each night. That is six hours a week that I would not be home. I love the knitting/crocheting class because it is basically three hours that I set aside to knit and converse with people and get help when I need it. So that is a definite class I will take both fall and spring terms. I need to learn to crochet to make amigurimi critters. I think they are super cute and would be fun.

Adult Ed Debbie just called and is emailing me the schedule because I told her I just couldn’t wait until Sunday. So I will be spending the afternoon checking my email frantically to plan out my calendar. I must tell you when I talk about planning my schedule, my life in the fall/spring pretty much revolves around what is on t.v. I have shows that I watch and I need to have a plan to watch them. I can only record two shows at a time on dvr and well dvr only has so much space if you don’t clear it off. Plus it gets wonky somewhere around 40%. I have a ton that I need to clean off this weekend because fall premiers start on Monday for some shows. So, I need to take classes on nights that either repeat shows later in the week or on nights where there are not multiple things that I would like to watch/record. Yes, it is pathetic, but I don’t much give a shit what people think.

Well balls, there are two classes I want to take on Wednesday night. Sign Language and Woodcarving. I will have to deliberate and make a decision soon. I need to get my registration sent in on Tuesday. Classes start the 9th.

Today's entry is brought to you by the letter N

Ah, the letter N. So many things are associated with the letter N. The N word, No, Nine, my celebrity crush N, and the missing letter from my keyboard, N. The N is almost completely worn off of my keyboard and the M is showing signs of ware. It’s a good thing I learned proper finger placement in high school typing class.

I don’t know that I will continue to watch CSI faithfully this year. I am not to thrilled that they have tapped Laurence Fishburne to join the cast. It may not be bad, but I am thinking that it may not be good either. I don’t think I can handle much more of that skank Catherine. Whore. I’ll give it a go though.

I’ve been looking at the new fall television lineup. There are several new shows that I am going to give a go and a lot of faves returning. This is my line up

Monday: Gossip Girl: One Tree Hill: CSI Miami (yes I continue to watch this craptacular show)

Tuesday: NCIS: The Mentalist: Law & Order: SVU: 90210 (dvr): Fringe (dvr)

Wednesday: Bones: Criminal Minds: CSI: NY: Knight Rider (dvr)

Thursday: CSI: Life on Mars: Grey’s Anatomy (dvr)

Friday: The Ex List: Numbers

Saturday: DVR catch up

Sunday: Cold Case: True Blood

My midseason pickups include:

24: Damages: Dollhouse: Reaper:

Over the next few weeks I am going to work on cleaning off my dvr to make room for the new season. I will probably cancel out my story recordings (One Life To Live & General Hospital). I am sure my series recordings are still stored. That will be nice. I will have to delete a few since Moonlight is no longer on the air. That sort of depresses me, thus I am going to give HBO’s True Blood a go.

I am thinking with this lineup, I will get a lot of knitting done. I might want to start planning out projects and getting those together in little baggies. I will put that on my enormous to do list. The list is ever expanding. It is huge!

The house will finally be done today. They cleaned carpets yesterday and today they are installing the doors on the laundry center. Those and the bathroom door need to be painted, but those are Sunday projects that I will get to once the move is complete. I don’t know if I mentioned it or not, but I am moving from the family room and smaller bedroom to the largest bedroom and what we like to call the backroom. The backroom will be my new living room. I plan on keeping it as sparse as I can. I have a new television stand and end table to put together. Other than those two things all I have is a chair and a bookcase.

My bedroom will be home to my bed, clothing armoire, dresser, computer armoire and a pink chair that I will use to work on my computer with and when not in use will be home to some stuffies that I love (some old stuffies). I am slowly putting my bathroom together. And by slowly, I mean today I put my toothpaste and toothbrush in the cabinet. Tomorrow maybe I will do something else.

Tonight we are moving a desk and linen dresser. That should be fun. It is so hot here right now, but that is to change in the next few days I believe. I hate the heat. Last night was horrible, I took a shower and cooled off and two hours later I was sweaty again. Not fun, not fun at all!

I am trying to decide what to work on today. I have some in a tiq file, but I am waiting on a phone call from one of the places. I refuse to pay twice for something. Maybe I will work on my calendar first and then on my mail. Then perhaps I will find a box and put my new year ap in it since I can’t file until after the audit. When is that going to start, I wonder. Then maybe I will work on comparisons and maybe if I feel ambitious I will redesign the invoice merge since it quit working on me last month. Figures it would quit at my busiest time! Agh!

stuck with whatever knob they can get

I have about zero tolerance for people who can barely speak the language in this country and are customer service representatives. I just got off a phone call that could have lasted ½ the time it did, if I could have understood what the man was saying. I had to say “excuse me” about seven times because I could not understand him. I realize that customer service representative is a low paying job and that they are basically stuck with whatever knob they can get to do the job, but is it too much to ask that they get someone that people can understand? And another thing, can they get someone who can f’ing read the screen before making a telephone call? I was pretty pissy with the guy because I had already talked to a girl this morning about the same damn thing and she said that she made a notation and Mr. Can’tTalkRight found the notation, but the tool who called five minutes ago apparently can’t read!

That’s my frustration of the day. Something happened with the mail not too long ago because some of the checks I sent out were late getting there even though I sent them on time and so last week I was dealing with collection calls and then one place either didn’t send out a bill or it got lost in the mail, but they at least know about it and are taking the late fee off the bill. Then there is this whole debacle as noted above. I did not receive a statement in July, so I didn’t pay the bill. That’s the way it works here, you send me a statement and I pay off of it. I had all the receipts and they totaled the past due balance, but I have searched and searched and nowhere can I find a record of getting the statement. I pay too many bills to notice when I don’t receive one statement.

The bathroom is supposed to be done today. Do you know how excited I am at the thought of taking a shower vs. a bath. I was super stoked…and then…Mom said that she doesn’t think they are installing a curtain rod and we’re not quite sure where our old one is. That and the extension might not be installed. I need a shower. I am about one day away from taking one here at the office. Getting up early, coming in with accoutrements in tow and taking a shower and getting ready here. I need a shower not a bath!

I am not reading anything new until I finish the hat I am knitting. It is going slow. I have hopes of working on it tonight, but I think tonight is going to be kind of crazy. I need to do my strength exercises even though my back is killing me and I need to get some cardio in (I was thinking about taking the dogs for a walk). I have to cook dinner and that has to be after 5 because someone is getting a massage and that someone is not me. I can start cooking about 4:45 and I could get my strength in before that. I could probably do strength and cardio back to back if I danced instead of walked the dogs, then I could cook at 5 and be free after dinner to knit. Of course doing strength and cardio between 4 & 5 would depend on if the contractors were still at the house or not.

I am getting stressed! I need to get this damn hat done, but I am not feeling the urge to work my fingers to the bone. I love the feel of the yarn and I can handle the dpns, it is just sitting down and doing it. I need to find something on the television to watch and at the same time. Maybe I will put Money Pit on dvd. That would kill two birds with one stone. But, I will probably just watch the stories and Sex & The City. Ehh…I will make myself knit for one hour minimum tonight. I can do that.

He's a douche

I see I haven’t written a real entry in over a week. Bad me. Bad, bad, bad! I write daily in The Fat Journals. Not a whole lot has been going on. The house is a mess. We thought they were just going to work on the bathroom for a week but then they decided to start painting the ceilings so it was a rush to move some stuff and get things covered. Our bedrooms and garage are full of stuff! The refrigerator and microwave are in the dining room along with a tote of food. They are putting down a sub floor and hopefully flooring today in the kitchen, hallway and bathroom (sub floor is already in the bathroom). We are able to take baths, but no showers yet. The bathroom is HOT. I blame it on the lights being exposed, but when you take a hot bath and the exposed lighting beating down on you on top of the fact that it is summer and the window has been walled up, it is HOT!

I like the bathtub, it is bigger, more room to stretch out when bathing. The bathroom is way smaller though. Eh, all I do is take a shower and use the toilet. Once the rest of it gets done it will be fine.

I finished another book last night, the first for August. 1st to Die by James Patterson. It was a little disappointing for me though. I expected something more. Left me not sure if I want to read more in the series. But, I am not reading anything until I finish the hat I am knitting. I started it on Saturday and made it through the ribbing and increases yesterday. I hate, hate, hate k1p1 ribbing. It takes a while because I throw. Nine freaking rounds of ribbing and then a switch to larger needles. I am not using a circular on this hat, I am just using double points. I was having some hand cramping using the circulars. I will have to work with them more. The yarn is yummy. It is so soft and beautiful. I may have found my new favorite yarn. It is around $8.00 and some change a ball and honey, the balls aren’t big.

Work continues to be work. Our offices are freezing. As we speak I am wearing a sweater and my pedi socks. I look cute. I am going to make more pedi socks…I love them. I did win a $50 gift card at our staff meeting last month. I don’t know what to spend it on.

I bought an external hard drive for my laptop. I need to get it running at an optimum level again and I think all the shit was bogging it down. I have a lot of crap saved. A lot of music and pictures too.

Did some gambling yesterday and won a little scratch. It was nice. We made dinner for my aunt’s birthday yesterday and she and my uncle came for dinner. I made an awesome strawberry cake. Oh, I love it.

So You Think You Can Dance is over, that means that only one show has new episodes, The Closer. So, I should have more time to watch movies. I watched The Brave One yesterday. It was a let down for me. I expected it to be better and it wasn’t. It wasn’t bad, just not as good as everyone told me it was. But, I can scratch it off my list and move on.

So, So You Think You Can Dance is in the books. For the first time and untrained “street” dancer was the winner. I must say, that I was pulling for Twitch but am not disappointed in the outcome. I think Joshua is a fine dancer and deserved the win. I think that a lot of people thought it would be Katie, but I am glad that it was Twitch and Joshua in the top two. I knew Courtney would be the first elimination. I thought the show was fine, with the exception of the dropped camera shot during Twitch & Comfort’s Forever dance. I liked that both Mary and Nigel did a routine. I hope next year they follow up on what the choreographers said and they do routines as well. I think it is great to see them dance. I would love to see Tabitha and Napolean do a routine, as well as Wade Robson. The bunny funeral bit was a trifle scary for me though. I thought it was extremely creepy. I don’t really like Cirque though. It’s all a bit on the weird side of the tracks for my liking. I love, love, loved how they didn’t even mention Jessica’s name in the introduction of the dancers. It was like she never existed. How sweet was that? Another thing I liked was seeing previous contestants, except for that cocky Blake from Season One. He’s a douche.

See, I warned you, not a lot going on in my life.

shopping spree

It highly unusual for me to write on a Saturday. The past few weeks it has been highly unusual for me to even turn on the computer on Saturday. I don’t know why, I just don’t. Saturday is errand day and sometimes I take a nap late on errand day. Today, I ran a ton of errands and no nap.

We are remodeling our bathroom. So, I cleaned out the bottom of the cupboard and took some pictures. I should upload them, but to do that, I have to download them from the camera. Maybe tomorrow. I am gong to do a whole photo book of the transformation. It should be interesting. Of course, that book won’t be put together until sometime in the year 2013. I procrastinate.

I finished another book on Thursday night. The Dirty Secrets Club by Meg Gardiner. I went off the title, the blurb and that Steven King’s (not that I have ever read anything by him) word that she is the next suspense writer. Note to self, don’t do that again. The book did not suck, it just didn’t reach my high standards. That is not to say that Meg Gardiner is not a good writer, she is. She is, I believe, best friends with Roget’s Thesaurus. I spent a good deal of time using the dictionary. She used words that are not in the American Heritage Dictionary and that dictionary is one thick mother. She is also in love with the term psychological autopsy. It is a clever concept/description, but after about the 18th time reading it, I was over it!

With all that, if she develops a Jo Beckett series, I will continue to read them, because I am now invested in Jo, Gabe, Sophie, Ferd, Mr. Peebles, Tina and Amy Tang. I like series books, what can I say?

Tonight I will be starting 1st to Die by James Patterson. I may be one of the only people living who has not read a James Patterson book. Well at least one of the people living who read something other than porn and Archie comics. By the way, they still produce Archie comics. Not that I read them, but I do know you can find them at the newsstands…in the grocery store.

A little disappointed, my Friday magazine shopping spree was not as fruitful as usual. Namely the one thing I go for, the one magazine that completes my weekend, the holy grail of magazines, the Soap Opera Digest was not out. The store buys two maybe three copies. I buy one, the only one. There is always one left. And there it was yesterday, sitting there all desperate. I picked it up with anger wondering where the new cover was. I picked it up thinking that magically the new copy would appear. It didn’t. I set out on a mission to find the magazine cart. It was nowhere in site. I stood by the stock room doors hoping some schlub would open it and I could run in and find my magazine. It didn’t happen. I left without the Digest! I replaced it with a copy of Entertainment Weekly. I shouldn’t say replaced. Nothing replaces the Digest. I compensated with EW.

Did you know that that tool Michael Ausiello from tvguide is now at EW? The only reason I know of the Aushole is because I used to wait patiently for his Ask Ausiello column on tvguide.com every Wednesday. Sure I was distracted by his asterisk * bullshit. But sometimes I got some good leads to check out the spoiler circuit. He has resurrected it at EW if anyone is interested. I figure it is a good thing he works in print, because the boy is ugly. Every year some dickweed nominates him for Sexiest Vegetarian. He has no hope of winning.

I am going to knit a hat for a co-worker who just got through another bout with cancer. She comments a lot that she likes the hat I bought at the Folk Festival and well I want to make her a hat. It is going to be getting colder soon and her hair is just starting to really come in again. So, I went out and found a super cute and free pattern and ordered the yarn. I can’t wait to get it and get the hat done. I love to do stuff for people and I think she will really appreciate it. I wish I had a decent yarn store here. When I win the lottery, I am buying the local brothel (not still operating) and turning it into a yarn store. Or at least part of it. I could rent out the other rooms to little gift stores for people who make had made items. Like a consignment center for handmade items. Soaps, jewelry, jellies, whatever. I am going to call my store Dumas Yarns. The brothel is The Dumas. So…that is my new dream. I would also put in a small newsstand because I have always wanted to have my own newsstand. Part of it will be Dumas Yarns and the other part will be Dumas News. Screw the consignments. If I am really rich and ambitious, I could have Dumas Coffee or Dumas Snack Shack. I would knit stuff from Naughty Knits and put the mannequins in skimpy knitted wear. Oh to dream.

The Fat Journals are going well. I am really enjoy writing there. It is the reason I am writing tonight. I wrote an entry and then just decided to do this one.

Well I need to wash my eyes yet again. I am having an allergy attack. I can’t be sure, but there is a fat cat in the area around the house and I am wondering if dander from the f’er is getting to me somehow. You know like it knows I am highly allergic and the little bastards are just riding the wind to my front door and attacking me. Well…I may never know their evil little plan.

Okay, so I am off to read and enjoy a popsicle or three.
